Micheal J. Miller is in his second year as Assistant Director at Barnwell High School and Director of Bands at Guinyard-Butler Middle School. Mr. Miller is an alumnus of Barnwell High School and Newberry College, where he received his Bachelors in Music Education. Prior to returning to Barnwell, he was the Director of Bands at East Clarendon Middle and High School in Turbeville, SC.
Mr. Miller is an accomplished musician with a concentration in horn studies, and he also performs on flute, clarinet, percussion, and piano. While at Newberry College, he was principal horn with the Symphonic Band, peformed with various woodwind and brass ensembles, and has had the honor of sharing the stage with such jazz greats as Dave Bargeron from Blood, Sweat and Tears; and "Blue Lou" Marini, saxophonist from The Blues Brothers Movies.
In addition, Mr. Miller has served as orchestra director in several theatre productions, including "Nunsense" and Little Shop of Horrors, and has performed in The Music Man, and Two by Two. Mr. Miller is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity, Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Edisto Conference Band Director's Association (ECBDA), and the South Carolina Band Director's Association (SCBDA).
